About The Position

This position requires a Russian Linguist to provide translation, interpretation, and analysis of oral and written material, including classified reports, data, briefings, and conversations. The role involves providing written and/or oral translations, assessments, transcriptions, interpretations, cultural advisement, and media analysis to ensure timely and accurate development of actionable data and products. The linguist will read and comprehend source texts, write comprehensibly in one of the source languages, and choose equivalent expressions that fully convey the meaning of the original text. As an interpreter, the linguist must comprehend and speak both Russian and English, choose appropriate expressions, and be familiar with the cultural context of both languages. They will also research in native languages and write comprehensive information papers. Linguists may be required to complete an annual evaluation and retesting process to determine eligibility for service extensions.

Requirements

Current/Active Public trust clearance
US Citizenship
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Studies, Anthropology, Communication or a related field from an accredited and reputable institution and 8 years of relevant experience. An additional 4 years experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Minimum of 5 years prior experience working in support of U.S. Armed Forces or U.S. government agencies.
Minimum of 3/3/3 scores or higher in testing scores both in English and Modern Standard Russian within the last 5 years.
Must be able to demonstrate objective, unbiased, & logical cultural advisement.
Must be able to follow orderly and sequential systematic procedures and guidelines.
Must possess excellent listening skills with ability to pay attention to minute details.
In depth cultural understanding of customs, symbolism, mannerisms, traditions of various ethnic groups residing throughout the Eastern Europe or Central Asian States.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with Information Operations/ PSYOP/ MISO units OR, experience working with U.S. Special Operations Forces or other Military forces in Eastern Europe or Central Asian states.
Language ability in another required language; Ukrainian or Polish at the same levels.
Native Speaker.

Responsibilities

Provide assessments, transcription, translation, interpretation, cultural advisement, and media analysis services.
Provide written translations of source texts in one language into another language, with the meaning and intent of the original text.
Read and comprehend the languages.
Write comprehensibly in one of the source languages.
Choose the equivalent expression in the Source language that both fully conveys and best matches the meaning intended in the source language.
Have a command of both of the languages (Russian /English) as an Interpreter.
Comprehend both the source language and English as spoken and written.
Speak both of these languages.
Choose an expression in English that fully conveys and best matches the meaning of the source language.
Have familiarity with the cultural context of both languages.
Have knowledge of terminology in specialized fields.
Research in source (Native) languages and write a comprehensive command level information paper.
Provide foreign language interpretation, translation, transliteration & transcription, document exploitation (DOCEX) services.
Provide written and verbal translation of various types of media from target language to source language while maintaining congruity in judgment.
Provide presentations and work with small and large groups.
Demonstrate capability to work with Microsoft Office applications, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
