About The Position

This position serves as a Grants Program Analyst within the Office of Rural Prosperity, supporting the development, administration, and monitoring of a portfolio of state- and federally-funded grant programs that advance rural economic development, community capacity-building, and infrastructure investment across Michigan. Assignments may be drawn from either state or federal grant programs, or both, depending on office needs; the position requires the flexibility to move between program areas and to apply the applicable state or federal rules, regulations, and reporting requirements to each assignment. The position ensures grant applications, agreements, and performance reports are accurate and submitted timely, supports sub-recipient/grantee compliance, and serves as a point of contact for grantees and partner agencies. This position works closely with rural communities, regional partners, and other LEO offices to ensure grant programs align with ORP's mission and are administered consistent with applicable state and federal requirements. The official workstation for this position will be the successful candidate’s home. However, it will be necessary to travel for meetings and events. All work must be performed in Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position.

Requirements

  • Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and at least one year of professional level experience in the state classified service; or the equivalent of six months of full-time experience as a Senior Executive Management Assistant 11, 13, or 15 in the state classified service.
  • Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
  • Departmental Analyst 9: No specific type or amount is required.
  • Departmental Analyst 10: One year of professional experience.
  • Departmental Analyst P11: Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.
  • Must attach a cover letter, detailed resume, and official college transcript(s).
  • Foreign college or university degree holders must have their academic credentials evaluated or converted into U.S. educational equivalents unless recognized by CHEA.
  • All classified employees are subject to Civil Service Rule 2-8 Ethical Standards and Conduct.
  • Newly hired state employees are required to submit and pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Certain positions may also require state criminal, fingerprint-based and driving record background checks.
