About The Position

The Program Coordinator II, P11 works collaboratively with Campus leadership to coordinate, plan, develop and implement programs & activities for Texas A&M Naresh K. Vashist College of Medicine's (VCOM) undergraduate medical education Rural Hub Program/Track to include strategic planning, education and accreditation responsibilities. Special emphasis is placed on clerkship coordination, student development, mentorship advising, and course management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in higher education administration
  • Four (4) years of related experience in medical education and/or experience in higher education administration
  • A Class "C" vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment

Responsibilities

  • Assists in establishing short- and long-term goals and strategic planning
  • Uses negotiation skills, creative thinking, knowledge of short- and long-term goals and strategies for a final product that is functional for students and faculty and ensures that all curriculum requirements are included in Rural Hub program offerings
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates programs by collaborating with team members to design a schedule that meets the needs of each core clerkship
  • Researches develops, plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates various elective program offerings for Rural Hub students
  • Supports, coordinates and/or evaluates VCOM projects and programs external to assigned clerkship(s)
  • Assists in establishing goals, objectives, policies and procedures
  • Collaborates with course leadership to create, organize and disseminate undergraduate medical education (UME) curriculum
  • Advises students in utilizing the clerkship resources to optimize their learning opportunities within the Rural Hub program
  • Assists in budgetary decisions for Rural Hub programs and extracurricular events.
  • Coordinate activities related to educational conferences, meetings, lectures, clinical learning sessions, examinations and special events as directed by curriculum and leadership
  • Oversees daily fiscal and purchasing activities
  • Assists in preparation and monitoring of budgets for programs and events.
  • Assists in monitoring budgetary needs vs resources while planning events and program needs
  • Manages preceptor relationships and provide liaison support between faculty and administration
  • Develops, recruits and liaises and maintains relationships with community physicians, clinical staff, affiliate partners, healthcare systems, clinics, and community organizations
  • Collaborates with course leadership to create, organize and disseminate undergraduate medical education (UME) curriculum for the third year of medicine consisting of, but not limited to, course requirements, threads and electives in a longitudinal integrated format
  • Assists clerkship or course leadership in developing syllabi, training materials (delivers training), and reports on program activities for each clerkship on behalf of Rural Hub
  • Coordinates and prepares materials for continued institutional accreditation
  • Compiles and maintains data to ensure compliance with institutional and program accreditation requirements, i.e. Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME)
  • Designs and builds proposals for the Rural Hub Year-At-A-Glance to be presented and approved by the Rural Hub Leadership
  • Follows protocols for distribution and collection of evaluations of faculty and clerkships
  • Develops and updates training materials and delivers training
