About The Position

American Heritage School is seeking a Running Program Director/Head Coach for its 6-12 Cross Country/Track & Field program. This is a faith-forming role where the coach is expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The role involves overseeing all aspects of the cross country and track and field teams for boys and girls in grades 6-12, as well as the elementary school running program. The coach will also guide other coaches and parent volunteers and uphold the mission and standards of American Heritage School.

Requirements

  • A running background
  • Experience with track and field and cross country
  • Experience coaching
  • An enduring love of youth and a genuine passion for teaching and learning
  • The ability to use sports as a tool to build better disciples of Jesus Christ and Christian character
  • A commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
  • Strong communication and management skills
  • Professional in appearance and demeanor
  • Willing and able to serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement on and off campus
  • Personal conduct, public statements, and online presence, both on and off campus, are expected to reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose
  • Alignment with and support of the school's religious mission and values

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing all aspects of the cross country and track and field teams for boys and girls in grades 6-12
  • Overseeing the elementary school running program
  • Guiding coaches and parent volunteers
  • Upholding the mission and standards of American Heritage School
  • Integrating faith-based principles and moral reasoning into athletics administration where appropriate
  • Serving as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students
  • Supporting and upholding the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues
  • Responding thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission
  • Serving as an ambassador for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement on and off campus
