The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. The centers provide campus-based direct services and supports at 13 centers located throughout the state. This position performs moderately complex habilitative and rehabilitative therapy work in the Mexia canteen. It provides assistance to therapists for occupational therapy, physical therapy or vocational /day programming. It provides direct contact instruction/training for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities on their treatment plans by overseeing their skills development in the canteen. It trains others working in the canteen to ensure continuity of treatment plans. Canteen work involves preparing, portioning, distributing and serving food for regular & therapeutic diets, and sanitation of equipment, work areas, dishes, utensils, pots and pans. Other duties may be required which are related to the functions of the positions. May train and oversee Food Service workers. Handle food in accordance with federal, state and HACCP guidelines. Follow kitchens and food safety procedures and practices. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays. May be required to work unusual or extended hours. Works under the general supervision of the assigned supervisor with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position may be required to drive a state-owned vehicle.
