Under administrative direction, the RTC Network Engineer for the Department of Innovation and Technology performs complex professional and advisory work in networking services. The role designs and supports Wide Area Network (WAN) solutions using DoIT Master Design templates and provides application-specific network support—including routing, TCP/IP telephony, video/audio, DNS, monitoring systems, and content filtering—to engineers, team members, and constituents. The position conducts in-depth WAN studies and directs complex network implementations, including installing and upgrading access, backbone, and egress connections or routers; establishing BGP sessions; and configuring SNMP, MPLS, load balancing, multicast, QoS, and IPSEC for services such as IP video and VoIP. The engineer handles customer trouble tickets, diagnoses connectivity and performance problems, and meets with customers to assess eligibility and costs for network services and process related documentation. The role also coordinates major and complex networking projects across agencies and locations, develops design templates for large-scale implementations, and maintains current technical knowledge through training, meetings, seminars, and conferences. Other duties reasonably within the scope of the position may be assigned.
