About The Position

This role involves operating an Xray processing machine, sorting and filing film, and ensuring the quality and correct identification of castings. The position requires attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions, and physical stamina. The individual will work with Xray equipment, develop film, and communicate with various team members to maintain production flow and meet deadlines.

Requirements

  • Good vision/sight (must meet industry standards), depth perception, hearing, and hand-eye coordination, and dexterity.
  • Above average math aptitude.
  • Ability to follow written work instructions.
  • Ability to multitask and meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • Ability to grip, push, and pull with 80lb strength on a regular basis.
  • Ability to generate 15lbs of pinch strength on occasion.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical.
  • Ability to perform elevated work on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to stand on concrete up to 8 hours.
  • Ability to pass an 80% or above preliminary aptitude test given at interview.

  • Ability to identify several sets of numbers associated with each casting.
  • Ability to sort numbers in numerical sequence, by casting number, by serial number, and by employee assigned number without transposing numbers and prevent items from being filed incorrectly.

  • Ability to sort multiple shooters film and determine the correct process filing.
  • Ability to develop film using exposure charts of radiographic techniques when available and develop film when a technique is not available.
  • Ability to read and identify serial numbers and shooter numbers on developed film.
  • Ability to work with the shooter and reader to determine if film is acceptable or rejected.
  • Ability to reload film cassettes.
  • Ability to recognize and repair film cassettes when there are visible defects.
  • Ability to keep dark room and sorting room clean and organized.
  • Ability to read and understand foundry process.
  • Ability to communicate between multiple levels of employees, management, and departments.

Responsibilities

  • Operate an Xray processing machine in both darkroom and sorting room environments.
  • Sort multiple shooters' film and determine the correct process filing to ensure film is kept with the correct casting and shooter.
  • Develop film using exposure charts and radiographic techniques, or when a technique is not available.
  • Read and identify serial numbers and shooter numbers on developed film for correct sorting and filing.
  • Determine if film is acceptable or rejected prior to sending it to the releasor.
  • Reload film cassettes.
  • Recognize and repair film cassettes with visible defects that could create poor quality Xrays.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the darkroom and sorting room.
  • Read and understand the foundry process to ensure correct movement of castings.
  • Communicate between multiple levels of employees, management, and departments to ensure production flow and meet deadlines.
  • Follow written work instructions.
  • Multitask and meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Follow all safety rules and wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Cross-train within the classification and department.
  • Sort numbers in numerical sequence, by casting number, by serial number, and by employee assigned number without transposing numbers and prevent items from being filed incorrectly.
