About The Position

This role involves operating an X-ray processing machine in both darkroom and sorting room environments. The primary responsibilities include processing film, sorting it correctly with castings and shooters, developing film using established techniques or independently when necessary, and accurately identifying serial and shooter numbers. The position also requires collaboration with shooters and readers to determine film acceptability, reloading and repairing film cassettes, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. The company may assign additional duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Good vision/sight (must meet industry standards), depth perception, hearing, and hand-eye coordination, and dexterity.
  • Reading, writing, above average math aptitude is necessary.
  • Team-oriented, problem-solver, and self-motivated.
  • Able to follow written work instructions.
  • Able to multitask and meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • Able to grip, push, and pull with 80lb strength on a regular basis.
  • Able to generate 15lbs of pinch strength on occasion.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment physical.
  • Able to perform elevated work on an occasional basis.
  • Some tasks require repetitive activities.
  • Able to stand on concrete up to 8 hours.
  • Willing to cross-train within the classification.
  • Able to follow all safety rules and wear all required personal protective equipment.

  • Pass (80% or above) a preliminary aptitude test given at interview.

Responsibilities

  • Use an Xray processing machine both in the dark room prior to processing and in the sorting room after processing.
  • Sort multiple shooters film and determine the correct process filing to ensure film is kept with the correct casting and shooter.
  • Develop film using exposure charts of radiographic techniques when available and develop film when a technique is not available.
  • Read and identify serial numbers and shooter numbers on developed film to ensure the film is sorted correctly and placed in the proper location for releasing the film.
  • Work with the shooter and reader to determine if film is acceptable or rejected prior to sending it to the releasor.
  • Reload film cassettes.
  • Recognize and repair film cassettes when there are visible defects that can create a poor quality Xray.
  • Keep dark room and sorting room clean and organized.
