About The Position

This role is for an Avionics Installer Lead on the 1st shift, working Monday through Thursday from 5:45 AM to 4:15 PM. The Lead will oversee avionics installation projects on business jet platforms within a completion environment. Responsibilities include organizing, inventorying, and ordering necessary avionics parts, materials, and consumables to ensure an uninterrupted workflow. The position involves planning and maintaining schedules for multiple aircraft, adjusting priorities based on customer or program needs, and assigning/coordinating tasks for avionics installers of varying experience levels. The Lead will provide hands-on technical guidance and troubleshooting during installations and modifications, and will coordinate closely with engineering, planning, quality, and supply chain teams. Ensuring work adheres to engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and company quality standards is crucial. The role also includes tracking job progress, ensuring timely completion of tasks and milestones, maintaining team toolbox inventories (including specialty avionics tools), and identifying tooling gaps to support procurement or replacement. A key aspect is promoting a clean, organized, and professional shop floor environment that meets business jet customer expectations. A deep understanding of 3D modeling programs, experience coordinating harness routing and installations, and familiarity with FAA and company installation standards applicable to business aviation are also required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5 years previous aircraft systems experience in the specific discipline of the lead position (i.e., 5 years previous aircraft upholstery experience for the Completions Lead for the Trim Shop).
  • Deep understanding of 3D modeling programs.
  • Experience coordinating harness routing and installations.
  • Familiarity with FAA and company installation standards applicable to business aviation.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, move, push, pull and install 30-50 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to wear all required safety equipment, be able to walk, sit, stand, climb, crawl, twist, bend, gain entry to, work in confined areas and working from stands and ladders.
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends and shifts when required to meet business needs.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Airframe and/or Powerplant License or Repairman Certificate is required.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a clean, organized, and professional shop floor consistent with business jet customer expectations.
  • Updates and maintains Job Safe analyst Cards on assigned equipment.
  • Ensures all department work is completed in a timely manner and meets requirements for quality and quantity.
  • Ensures maximum technician motivation, efficiency and discipline in accordance with GAC policies and procedures.
  • Assigns and monitors work loads of department, ensuring all work is accomplished in accordance with current approved technical data, including but not limited to: engineering drawings, maintenance manuals, service bulletins and airworthiness directives.
  • Ensures that department personnel are qualified and trained to perform work assignments.
  • Fully supports the corporate safety, FOD and 5S programs.
  • Assists the team as required to achieve milestone dates and meet goals through proficient hands on work, guidance, ensuring required equipment and material is available.
  • Ensures all required paperwork and documentation, such as, ADTS, CDMS, CMP cards, and R&I log and Corridor are accomplished.
  • Ensures design and engineering drawings are used and followed.
  • Accomplishes weekly safety audits and assists team members in doing safety audits.
  • Leads or serves on Lean and Quality Improvement teams to ensure local and corporate goals are achieved.
  • Assists in maintaining shop equipment and associated JSAs.
  • Ensures compliance with and champions safety, 5S, housekeeping policies.
  • Ensures that aircraft interiors are protected (PTP).
  • Leads local and corporate safety initiatives.
  • Leads efforts to continuously improve existing processes and procedures using Lean Manufacturing tools.
  • In support of aircraft certification and completions testing, may include flight tests on aircraft as required.
  • By own example, sets standards for professionalism, communication, team building and recognition of team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Plans, lays-out, assembles, and installs components working from blueprints, verbal instructions, sketches, customer requests, FAA and GAC specifications as required.
  • Remain knowledgeable in the safe operation of all shop equipment, hand tools and the usage of all pertinent hardware that pertains to the specific department they are assigned.
  • Remain proficient in all artisan skills and provides technical expertise as required to engineering and management.
