About The Position

Educate and inform communities through multiple strategies including community-based services, environmental strategies, early recognition and referral.

Requirements

  • Related Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education OR other related Human Relations field
  • One year experience in the mental health or prevention field OR equivalent combination of education and experience in the mental health or prevention field
  • Obtain certification as a Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) through the Oklahoma Drug & Alcohol Professional Counselor Association (ODAPCA) within 18 months of employment
  • Experience working with community resources
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with individuals and communities of diverse groups
  • Public speaking skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include weekends or overnight stays
  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and ability to drive own vehicle
  • Ability to travel within a broad coverage area in Oklahoma
  • Commitment to the mission of Red Rock BHS

Responsibilities

  • Works as a team member utilizing all available resources
  • Assists in the development and implementation of programmatic goals and objective
  • Works with community groups in developing and conducting alcohol/drug free activities and other alternative prevention programs
  • Maintain positive community relations
  • Ensure quality programming is provided to all participants with accurate and timely documentation
  • Participates in all mandated RPC training, planning, and coordinating meetings
  • Maintains core competencies in relation to working with co-occurring disorders through continuing education and implementing skills into all aspects of treatment
  • Attends staff meetings, workshops, and seminars to learn agency policy, rules, regulations, and procedures
  • Participates in on-going in-service training as well as required external training and workshops
  • Knowledge of the underlying principles of the public health approach to alcohol, tobacco and/or other drug problems
  • Knowledge of the underlying principles and application of environmental strategies that advance policy-based prevention approaches to reduce alcohol, tobacco, and/or other drug problems
  • Knowledge and competency in organizing, developing and sustaining community based collaborations aimed at achieving environmental change
  • Knowledge of the underlying principles of the use of media advocacy to reduce alcohol, tobacco or other drug problems
  • Knowledge of the purpose and function of multisystem collaboration to affect organizational and systems changes to reduce alcohol tobacco and other drug problems within the communities
  • Performs other duties as required
