About The Position

Performs technical maintenance and operational activities. Operates, services, and maintains a variety of small equipment or tools. Cleans, edges, and mows street and drainage right-of-ways. Trims trees, shrubbery, and maintains landscapes. Monitors and maintains assigned areas, facilities, and equipment; removes trash or debris; prepares site and equipment for necessary repairs or cleaning; maintains traffic control as required. Contributes to the overall success of the department by performing other essential duties as assigned. Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds. Subject to 24-hour recall: The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime including during emergency situations (defined as any natural or man-made disaster that may or may not necessitate the relocation of City personnel or citizens). In the event of an emergency and/or a required evacuation, the incumbent may be required to remain at work to provide needed services or perform essential duties for the benefit of the general public including services or duties different from those performed in the normal course and scope of the position.

Requirements

  • Applicable Federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations and/or ordinances
  • Equipment, tools, and materials of assigned area
  • Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment
  • Utility vehicle operation techniques
  • Adhering to safe work practices
  • Prioritizing work and managing time
  • High School Diploma or GED and one (1) year of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
