About The Position

The Route Driver position involves loading, ordering, delivering, product accounting, and other functions involved in servicing a variety of customers. This position is not assigned to a specific route or day. The role requires Monday - Friday work, with some weekends. The driver will deliver product to customers in an efficient, timely, courteous, and accurate manner. Responsibilities include ensuring sufficient route inventory levels to meet customer demands while adhering to account inventory control and company distribution procedures, submitting all customer paperwork and deposits daily, and maintaining proper handheld records for all accounts. The role also involves loading or unloading cases of product manually with a hook, handcart, or pallet-jack onto and off the truck, ensuring the load is properly secured, and collecting empty cases. Stocking and/or rotating product on shelves or in the cold room is also part of the job. The driver must be able to complete the assigned route within DOT time regulations and maintain a valid Class B CDL and current DOT medical card. Reporting any moving violations to management immediately is required. The driver must check load security prior to travel and at each stop, making adjustments when needed, and comply with all Department of Transportation regulations. Daily DOT and customer paperwork, including delivery tickets, pre and post-trip inspections, driver logs, and vehicle service reports, must be completed. Utilizing a continuous improvement mindset to identify opportunities to improve processes and performing other duties as assigned are also expected.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; and one to two years related experience and/or training
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Must be able to drive, stand, walk, kneel, lift and bend required for virtually the entire shift.
  • Balance - pulling product, climb in and out of truck.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to six cases on hand truck. (cases weigh 20 to 55 lbs.).
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends and holidays.
  • Be able to effectively work in a team environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must possess and maintain a Class B CDL.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screens (including drug, background and criminal checks).

Responsibilities
