About The Position

The Route Manager oversees teams responsible for snow removal and ice control operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all tasks before, during, and after snow events. This role requires strong leadership, real‑time decision‑making, and the ability to manage people, equipment, and customer needs in demanding winter conditions.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.
Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred (Class B support available).
Must pass City of New York Department of Aviation background check and driving test.
Long hours, weekends, holidays; on‑call daily from Nov 1–Apr 30.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks (walking, kneeling, climbing, etc.).

Responsibilities

Handle customer service calls confidently, accurately, and professionally.
Communicate expectations to heavy equipment operators, salt drivers, seasonal drivers, and sidewalk crews.
Ensure full adherence to procedures for pre-season preparation, pre-event readiness, active snow event operations, and post-event follow-up.
Oversee sidewalk and parking lot clearing, including chemical application.
Supervise heavy equipment operators clearing snow around terminals and other airfield areas.
Assess and report bulk and liquid material usage, tarmac snow/ice conditions, and equipment status.
Drive safely in low-visibility, low-traction airfield environments.
Validate timecards and evaluate employee performance.
Address performance issues and manage individuals and teams effectively.
Receive multiple tasks, prioritize critical items, and delegate appropriately.
