About The Position

A Route Helper assists the Residential Driver in running the route efficiently, productively, and safely, while complying with applicable governmental regulations for trucking and waste operations. The position provides courteous, professional service to customers. The Route Helper assists with route preparation and collection, helps identify and record route changes, and helps ensure the truck is clean and well-maintained before leaving the facility.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision.
• Basic math ability.
• Verbal and written fluency in English.
• At least minimal computer aptitude.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or its equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Report to work at designated times in proper company uniform and with required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Know and understand driving hand signals.
• Assist in examining route sheets and identifying new stops and stops not on the route.
• Assist the driver with reading notes from the Residential Supervisor or Dispatch and discuss the day's route as needed.
• Assist in collecting the route in the sequence shown on the route sheet and/or fleet routing software.
• Note sequencing problems or changes and record them in fleet routing software.
• Ensure the truck is clean and well-maintained before leaving the TDS facility.
• Work productively and safely and behave courteously and professionally.
• Be available for shifts scheduled on weekends and holidays.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
