Route Driver - Mason City, IA
About The Position
The Route Driver represents Spee Dee Delivery while making deliveries and picking up freight from customers and shippers. The role involves operating a company vehicle, organizing freight to use space effectively and prevent package damage, handling shipping paperwork and certain payments, and promptly notifying management about problems or discrepancies. The driver is also responsible for inspecting and reporting vehicle mechanical problems and maintaining a professional appearance and a clean vehicle. The schedule is Monday through Friday, starting at 7:30 a.m. and continuing until route completion. An additional 10–15 hours of overtime may be expected each week. Weekend overtime is voluntary and may be available as needed. Overtime is paid at time and a half after 40 hours per week. The starting wage is $21.00–$26.25 per hour, based on experience and other relevant factors.
Requirements
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving record that meets company standards.
- Be able to pass a DOT physical exam.
- Be able to bend, lift, twist, and climb stairs while moving freight on and off the company vehicle.
- Be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Be able to work with freight that may include hazardous materials, perishable food, alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals.
- Be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.
Nice To Haves

- Ability to operate a manual transmission, or willingness to learn.
- Good customer service skills and ability to work independently.
Responsibilities
