Mechanic/Vehicle Technician - Mason City, IA
About The Position
Spee Dee Delivery is seeking a Mechanic/Vehicle Technician to diagnose and repair gasoline engines and other powertrain components, hydraulic brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems. The role supports the maintenance and repair of the company’s fleet equipment. The schedule is Monday through Friday with a 7:00 a.m. start, with occasional Saturdays as needed for full-time employees. Pay is $20.00–$33.00 per hour based on experience. Overtime is paid at time and a half after 40 hours per week. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered for full-time Mechanic/Vehicle Technicians. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a DOT physical exam, pre-employment drug screening, and criminal background check. The position requires lifting up to 75 pounds and spending at least eight hours on one’s feet. Work may involve bending, kneeling, crouching, walking, and driving, and exposure to diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other vehicle-repair-related elements.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- Ability to use scan tool and laptop technology.
- Must have own tools or be able to obtain own tools to complete all job functions.
- Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or willingness to learn.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical exam.
- Ability to spend a minimum of eight hours on one’s feet.
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Two years of technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics preferred.
- Welding and torch experience is a plus but not required.
Responsibilities

- Use scan tools and laptop technology.
- Follow reasonable instructions from the shift leader.
- Work independently and/or as part of a team.
- Perform routine truck inspections and maintain fleet equipment.
- Help maintain an effective and clean work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
