About The Position

A Route Driver is responsible for the operation of a grease collection truck to collect used cooking oil, and/or a fat and bone collection truck for the removal and collection of raw material(s) from customer locations. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, and occasionally Saturday. This role involves pumping grease containers, ensuring cleanliness, securing containers, noting damages, and completing route tickets. For fat and bone removal routes, drivers collect and inspect raw materials for foreign or hazardous materials at customer locations, with some routes involving overnight stays. Drivers are required to maintain an electronic DOT log (or paper log if the electronic system is inoperable), provide customers with receipts, and obtain signatures. The position also requires responsible vehicle operation and maintenance in accordance with all regulations and company policies, including daily safety checks and inspections. Maintaining excellent customer relations through professional service is essential. The driver must complete all company-required paperwork daily, including route tickets, inspection reports, and mileage reports. The driver is responsible for their assigned route and must attend all safety meetings, with potential involvement in the Safety Committee. Other duties may be assigned by management.

Requirements

Must be 21 years of age.
High school diploma or GED.
Must possess a valid Class A CDL, with a Tanker Endorsement.
Must be registered on https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/
Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations; adaptable to changing situations.
Must have a good driving record.
Ability to work well with internal staff and external customers.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.

Nice To Haves

Prior route experience within a customer-oriented environment preferred.
Experience with truck hydraulics a plus.
Communicates clearly in verbal and written form.
Highly organized; superior time management skills.

Responsibilities

Pump Grease containers; ensure cleanliness of container and surrounding area; lock and secure container with screen, lid, and lock; notes any damages to container or corral area; properly completes route ticket with customer signature.
Collect and inspect raw material(s) at customer locations for any foreign or hazardous material (for Fat and Bone removal routes).
Maintain an electronic DOT log, or paper log if the electronic log book is inoperable.
Provide customer with receipt of pick-up and obtain signature of management at location.
Responsible for company vehicle; maintains vehicle in cleanest possible manner; operates vehicle in accordance with company, federal, state, and local regulations.
Conducts all safety checks and inspections of vehicle; operates vehicle under state, federal, local regulations and in accordance with company policy and procedures; observes all company safety rules.
Complete daily Pre-Trip/Post-Trip inspections as instructed.
Complete vehicle condition report on a daily basis; operates under all Company safety standards.
Maintain excellent customer relations by providing quality, professional service at all times.
Responsible for completing all company required paperwork in accordance with company policies (route tickets, driver vehicle inspection reports, accident reports, mileage reports, service forms, fuel forms, scale forms, etc.) on a daily basis.
Responsible for established route as assigned by Supervisor.
Attendance at all safety meetings required; may be asked to serve on Safety Committee.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
