Route Driver - Utility (Full Time)
About The Position
The Route Driver - Utility drives a company-owned truck over established routes to deliver and sell products or provide services. The role covers routes or locations when regular route or warehouse employees are absent and may assist Customer Service Managers with daily opening and closing activities and training new route service personnel. The driver delivers products such as soft drinks, bakery products, specialty foods, snacks, and sundries to customers’ places of business; stocks vending machines; collects stale or unsold merchandise and money; and refills bill and coin changers. The driver records transactions using the appropriate card or electronic device and is accountable for cash and products. The role also includes customer service, order preparation and truck loading, routine machine maintenance and sanitation, and setting up promotional displays. Drivers are expected to maintain a clean, safe work environment and perform their duties safely.
Requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license and safely operate company vehicles in accordance with traffic laws and conditions.
Responsibilities
- Cover a particular route or location when the regular route or warehouse employee is absent.
- Assist Customer Service Managers with daily opening and closing activities and training new route service personnel, as needed.
- Drive a truck to deliver products to customers’ places of business.
- Stock vending machines and collect stale, rejected, or unsold merchandise.
- Collect money from machines and refill bill and coin changers.
- Record transactions using the appropriate card or electronic device and remain accountable for cash and products.
- Contact existing customers to assess service, inform them about new products or services, and listen to and resolve service complaints.
- Select products from the warehouse, load the truck, and prepare order forms for food and pastry products.
- Perform routine maintenance and sanitation of machines.
- Set up merchandise and sales promotion displays or provide promotional materials to customers.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and perform work safely.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
