About The Position

The Route Supervisor is a secondary leadership position at a depot, supporting the depot manager in overseeing daily route operations. This includes managing route collections, dispatch times, coordinating route shortages, and ensuring route forecasting accuracy. While specific needs may vary, core daily duties involve monitoring cash balances, assisting with floor stock and stale product management, forecasting accuracy, fleet maintenance oversight, expense control, tray tracking, product return verification, end-of-day driver check-out, beginning-of-day adjustment verification, depot maintenance, truck cleanliness, driver appearance, securing retail displays, auditing retail service quality, and assisting with manpower management, including interviews and headcounts. The role also involves providing route coverage during staff shortages.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily route operations, including collections and dispatch times.
  • Support the depot manager in coordinating route shortages and forecasting accuracy.
  • Monitor cash balances and collections.
  • Assist in managing floor stock and stale product.
  • Assist in fleet maintenance, including rental vehicles and costs.
  • Assist in minimizing depot expenses.
  • Ensure proper tray tracking and counting of empty trays.
  • Verify all returned products (fresh or stale) by management.
  • Conduct end-of-day driver check-out, ensuring paperwork is signed and verified.
  • Verify beginning-of-day adjustments, including shortage reporting and route changes.
  • Maintain overall depot appearance and truck cleanliness.
  • Ensure driver appearance standards (clean uniforms, professional attire).
  • Assist in securing retail displays.
  • Audit retail service quality, including days of service.
  • Assist in managing manpower, including conducting interviews and headcounts.
  • Provide route coverage when short-handed.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support depot operations.
