Route Delivery Driver
About The Position
As a Route Delivery Driver, you will deliver Culligan drinking water and related products to commercial and residential customers on a predetermined route. You will prepare and load the delivery vehicle, follow scheduled routes, and consult with customers to determine which products and quantities meet their needs. The role requires safe driving, effective route planning, customer service, accurate documentation, and proper handling of bottled water, PE tanks, salt, and other products. Drivers spend much of their time in the field, driving and getting in and out of a route truck, and deliver in varying weather conditions. The work is labor intensive and requires physical stamina. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with an hourly rate of $21–$22 depending on experience.
Requirements
- Maintain a valid driver's license.
- Successfully pass a DOT physical and DOT drug screen.
- Successfully pass a criminal background check in accordance with company requirements.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Pass and maintain a driving record check sufficient to be insurable by the company to operate a company vehicle.
- Safely operate and drive company vehicles weighing up to 26,001 lbs. daily for approximately 8–10 hours.
- Lift up to 90 lbs. repeatedly.
- Remain physically capable, with or without reasonable accommodation, of performing the duties of the position.
- Demonstrate integrity, accountability, honesty, trustworthiness, punctuality, and reliability.
- Communicate effectively and pay attention to detail when managing customer information and paperwork.
- Be customer-oriented, manage time effectively, solve problems, and remain adaptable and flexible during the shift.
- Commit to safe driving and be able to work with technology such as a smartphone and GPS navigation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the delivery vehicle before leaving the warehouse and ensure it is loaded correctly.
- Review route layouts and customer requests, then complete scheduled deliveries.
- Identify potential challenges or roadblocks and optimize routes for efficiency.
- Interact with customers professionally and courteously, and address questions or concerns during deliveries.
- Develop knowledge of delivered products and handle bottled water, PE tanks, salt, and other products properly.
- Provide product information to customers when necessary.
- Complete customer agreements and route sheets accurately and legibly.
- Collect customer payments and submit payments and daily activity sheets to office staff at the end of each workday.
- Use handheld palm units properly and enter accurate customer information while following usage rules.
- Operate delivery vehicles safely and comply with traffic rules and DOT regulations.
- Perform Daily Vehicle Inspections and report vehicle issues to management.
