The Rounding Registered Nurse provides inpatient nursing care to patients and families across the health-illness continuum while collaborating with the rounding physician and associated healthcare team. The RN is accountable for nursing practice as defined by state statutes and delegates nursing tasks to licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and unlicensed assistive personnel (UAPs) using criteria in the Ohio Nurse Practice Act. This position supports the Cardiology team and is cross-trained to support Cardiac Imaging, Electrophysiology, and Interventional Cardiology patients. The nurse rounds on hospitalized patients transitioning to outpatient care, helping ensure inpatient and outpatient care plans are completed. The role includes a mix of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities and is not bedside nursing. The team sees an average of 30 patients each day. Typical duties include completing hospital rounds with the Cardiology team; obtaining consent forms; working on inpatient and outpatient orders; completing discharge orders; following up on appointments; and ensuring cardiac patient needs are met and labs progress without delay. The RN may also function as a scribe as directed by a physician. Orientation includes hands-on training with an experienced team. The schedule is 36 hours per week, consisting of three 12-hour shifts from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with every-other-weekend rotation. Rotational on-call weekends and holidays are required. Additional on-call pay and a weekend shift differential are available.
