About The Position

Our Rotor Shop and Machine Shop operations play a critical role in supporting gas turbine, steam turbine, and rotating equipment repairs. The Rotor Shop Machinist contributes directly to operational excellence by performing precision machining, inspections, and repairs that ensure reliability, safety, and quality for customer equipment. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and adherence to safety, quality, and operational procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with rotor manual machining, especially with gas turbine rotor machine.
  • Demonstrated intermediate skill level (Aligning, Runouts, Turning, and Grinding on at least two of three machines: Manual Lathe, and VTLs).
  • Supported Rotor shop and Machine shop based on customer needs (Steam rotors, Gas rotors, Cases, Gas components, Aero components, and Value rack repairs).
  • Ability to operate manual lathe for rotor lathe work.
  • Valid work authorization in the country of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Gas turbine repair (HSPT, GE10's, Fr3, Fr5, Fr6, and F7) Rotors and component machining is a big plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performing manual machining operations on compressor and turbine rotors and components.
  • Working with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Operating machine tools.
  • Supporting rotor handling, blading, and grinding activities.
  • Reading and interpreting documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Selecting, aligning, and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, and grinders.
  • Unstacking and stacking compressor rotors.
  • Blading and tip grinding compressor wheels.
