About The Position

Mixes chemicals and operates or tends machines to dye fabric, ensuring correct shading of fabric. This role operates the dyeing host system that mixes dyes and chemicals, enters data into the system, and weighs and safely mixes chemicals according to product specifications. The Lead Dyer is responsible for visual inspections of the machine and fabric, adjusting machine settings and chemicals, and reading data from the Color Eye to ensure correct shade. This position also involves troubleshooting off-shade dye problems, notifying supervisors or maintenance of equipment malfunctions, and performing housekeeping duties in assigned areas.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to operate a tugger or forklift.
  • Certification to operate these units will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Operates the dyeing host system that mixes the dyes and chemicals for the dyeing process.
  • Enters data such as the batch ticket information and formula identifications into the dyeing host system.
  • Weighs and safely mixes chemicals for dyeing process according to product specifications.
  • Performs visual inspections of the machine and fabric to insure proper processing.
  • Adjusts machine settings and chemicals.
  • Reads and interprets data from the Color Eye to ensure that the fabric has been dyed to the correct shade.
  • Interprets the data to adjust the chemicals for correct shading.
  • Troubleshoots and corrects causes of off –shade dye problems.
  • Notifies supervisor or maintenance when equipment malfunctions.
  • Perform housekeeping duties in assigned areas.
  • Any other duties assigned by management.
