About The Position

The Rotating Equipment Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on pipeline pump stations, which includes electric motors, horizontal and vertical single and multi-stage centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, and other mechanical-related equipment. The role involves eliminating and reporting product leaks, seeps, and spills, as well as assisting with construction projects. The position will maintain qualifications and record documentation in accordance with all applicable DOT and OSHA regulations to ensure compliance. The Rotating Equipment Technician will report directly to the Rotating Equipment Supervisor and will be based out of Odessa, TX, supporting the assets in the South Region of the Midstream business unit. This position requires the successful completion of an online assessment.

Requirements

• Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must maintain a valid driver's license.
• Must live/relocate within 1 hour of reporting location.
• Travel at least 25% of the time.
• 2 or more years of experience changing mechanical seals and general pump knowledge.
• Ability to climb various ladders and stairs up to 40 feet in height.
• Ability to raise and transport articles weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry material on a daily basis on even and uneven terrain as needed.
• Ability to work outside in harsh weather conditions.
• Ability to work alone a high percentage of the time.
• Ability to be on call 24 hours a day, and work scheduled or unscheduled overtime, on an as-needed basis.
• Ability to wear fire-retardant clothing and other personal protective equipment, such as steel-toe shoes and ear and eye protection.
• Ability to maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (e.g., free of facial hair and/or clean shaven).

Nice To Haves

• 5 or more years of maintenance and/or mechanical experience in oil and gas field operations or similar production environment.
• 5 or more years of experience with rotating equipment.
• Certified level 1 vibration analysis or willingness to attain Level 1 or higher certification.
• Motion Amplification I certified.
• MLT I (Machinery Lubrication Technician) certified.
• OQ Evaluator.
• Basic level of proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word; and SAP.
• Working knowledge of code requirements, including OSHA, and Department of Transportation.
• Proficient in API 610, 682 and 686 standards.
• Experience working with electric digital and analog circuitry including drawings and schematics.
• Willingness to be trained to perform basic technical tasks such as Rosemount transmitter calibrations, Allen Bradley PLC’s, electrical motors and starters, Rotork actuator installation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Performing maintenance and repairs on pipeline pump stations, including electric motors, centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, and other mechanical equipment.
• Eliminating and reporting product leaks, seeps, and spills.
• Assisting with construction projects.
• Maintaining qualifications and record documentation in accordance with DOT and OSHA regulations.
• Performing oil changes, oil analysis, and supply management.
• Conducting condition monitoring, PI/machine health monitoring, and vibration monitoring.
• Performing seal flush filter changes and seal changes.
• Conducting alignment and thrust checks.
• Performing tubing work, bearing housing alignment, refacing, stuffing box facing, sweeping bores/faces, and bearing changes.
• Performing overhauls, QA/QC, and equipment tracking.
• Ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient performance of maintenance and operation activities.
• Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and directives.
• Performing required preventive and corrective maintenance on various types of equipment.
• Identifying maintenance work and initiating work requests.
• Driving a company-owned vehicle within the assigned area.
• Diagnosing problems and performing troubleshooting.
• Performing and providing technical support for installations, maintenance, and repairs of mechanical, electrical, and rotating equipment.
• Performing coupling alignments on rotating equipment.
• Completing pump tear-down/rebuild inspections and new pump installations.
• Maintaining current and accurate documentation of maintenance activities.
• Assisting supervisors in changing technology and budget requirements.
• Responding to emergencies and maintaining emergency response preparedness.
• Performing equipment monitoring and maintenance documentation.
• Performing planned maintenance checks and calibration, and timely submitting appropriate reports.
• Minimizing downtime and unsafe conditions by performing preventative maintenance.
• Maintaining mechanical and technical administrative records, including prints and project reports.
• Driving teamwork throughout the area of responsibility.
• Supervising and directing contract crews.
• Complying with all applicable DOT and OSHA regulations, and safety policies and procedures.
• Completing and maintaining required safety/regulatory training.
• Maintaining all required Operations Qualifications on assigned tasks.
• Pursuing cost reduction opportunities.
