Function: Engineering and Engineering Services Job Summary: The Rotating Equipment Mechanical Engineer provides technical support for the reliability, performance, and mechanical integrity of critical rotating equipment at the Verdigris Complex. This role troubleshoots equipment issues, analyzes reliability data, supports maintenance strategies, and collaborates with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and Engineering to improve asset performance and reduce downtime. You will report to the Chief Engineer, Asset Integrity & Reliability, and work onsite as part of the Engineering organization. This is a safety-sensitive position. Requirements

  • Safety Mindset: Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices, risk assessment, hazard identification, and adherence to industry and site safety standards.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Five or more years of rotating equipment, reliability, maintenance, or mechanical engineering experience in a chemical plant, refinery, petrochemical, fertilizer, or other heavy industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with rotating and reciprocating machinery, failure analysis, vibration analysis, precision alignment, lubrication practices, mechanical seals, bearings, and baseplate grouting procedures preferred.
  • Familiarity with condition monitoring, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, CMMS systems, equipment criticality, and spare parts management preferred.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industrial codes, standards, and regulations, such as API, ASME, ANSI, OSHA, and state regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Experience with ammonia, urea, fertilizer, petrochemical, or similar manufacturing processes preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Rotating Equipment Expertise: Support site rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, blowers, turbines, gearboxes, seals, bearings, lubrication systems, and related machinery.
  • Improve Reliability and Performance: Analyze reliability data, track failure and repair metrics, identify performance trends, and implement improvement plans that reduce equipment downtime and maintenance costs.
  • Lead Troubleshooting and Maintenance Strategy: Troubleshoot equipment issues, support failure analyses, review condition monitoring data, and develop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Support Repairs, Turnarounds, and Projects: Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, Reliability, and Engineering to plan and execute machinery repairs, shutdown work, equipment upgrades, replacements, and reliability improvement projects.
  • Ensure Documentation and Compliance: Support PSM Mechanical Integrity requirements by maintaining accurate repair documentation, equipment records, maintenance strategies, and alignment with applicable standards.
  • Share Best Practices and Provide Technical Support: Participate in rotating equipment best practice efforts, recommend critical spare parts, support audits, assist with selected fixed equipment tasks, and provide urgent technical support when needed.
