Conducts engineering duties for the rotating equipment discipline and functions as a technical specialist, formulating and developing engineering solutions. This role involves providing rotating equipment engineering assistance, direction, and solutions, as well as solving technical challenges related to unit operations and capital projects in assigned areas. The engineer will be responsible for upgrading, designing, configuring, maintaining, and monitoring related equipment and performance, analyzing components, systems, processes, methods, and refinery economics. Additionally, they will develop initial project scopes for approval, ensuring projects meet budget and refinery/OSHA standards, and maintain the integrity of rotating equipment data. The role also includes analyzing data to assist operations with rotating equipment decisions and researching innovations and leading-edge developments in the discipline. Systems will be developed to document and track the maintenance of rotating equipment systems. The position may also involve participating in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), incident investigations, Management of Change, Process Safety audits, and Layers Of Protection Analysis (LOPA) reviews. The engineer will also investigate and resolve work-in-process problems, recommend and implement improvements, review vendor proposals, and work to improve refinery reliability, safety, and profitability. Special assignments may also be given by the supervisor.
