Under the policy direction of the Medical Director with support of the Intern Directors, this role provides professional medical, nutritional, dental, and surgical diagnostics and treatment of companion animals. The position involves directing and guiding Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and other employees involved in pet care. It requires practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics. The role also emphasizes client management, including developing rapport, determining client needs, explaining findings, recommending preventive care and treatment plans, providing fee estimates, and keeping clients informed. Administrative duties include maintaining client/patient medical/surgical records using the SOAP method, keeping logs up-to-date, accurately charging clients, and participating in hospital marketing and promotional events. Staff management involves ensuring cooperation and respect among professional staff, technicians, assistants, and receptionists, and providing clear directions and education.
