About The Position

An entry-level rope access technician who performs work-at-height tasks under the direct supervision of a Level III (and often Level II). Focus is on safe execution, learning systems, and task support.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Level I, II or Level III Rope Certification through SPRAT or IRATA
  • Intermediate mechanical knowledge
  • Knowledge of, and willingness to follow and lead others to follow applicable safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to work a demanding and flexible schedule
  • Ability to work long periods of time, up to 16-hour days
  • Ability to respond to callouts on short notice and to stay on site, including long distance travel for extended periods of time
  • Able to frequently lift and carry objects up to 75 pounds on loose, rough or uneven terrain
  • Able to occasionally exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 150 pounds with assistance
  • Climbing and working at heights, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, standing for long periods, walking, pushing, pulling, repetitive motion, working in confined spaces, working in extreme cold and heat, visual acuity, working near hazards including moving mechanical parts, working near electrical components and exposures to chemicals

Responsibilities

  • Perform work while suspended using two-rope systems
  • Follow established rigging and access systems (does not design them)
  • Carry out assigned tasks such as: Cleaning, coating prep, Basic installation or removal work, Assisting inspections
  • Maintain tool tethering and dropped-object controls
  • Participate in rescues as directed
  • Follow JSAs, permits, and site safety rules
