About The Position

Tacten is seeking Rope Access Journeyperson and Apprentice Insulators to support our client site at Syncrude in Fort McMurray, AB. As a Rope Access Insulator, you will be a key member of our team responsible for performing insulation installation, maintenance, and repair work at heights. You will execute high-elevation tasks with precision, efficiency, and a strong focus on safety and quality. Employment Type: Long-term maintenance work and temporary full-time project/shutdown work, with additional opportunities for ongoing and repeat mobilizations based on operational and client requirements. Site: Syncrude. IRATA Level 1 ticket required, or willingness to obtain. Candidate must be local to Fort McMurray, AB or willing to relocate. Requirements

  • Journeyperson Insulator certification required, or equivalent hours/industrial insulation experience. Registered apprentices will also be considered depending on experience and project requirements.
  • IRATA Level 1 required, or willingness and ability to obtain prior to mobilization. Must be comfortable working at heights in a rope access environment.
  • IRATA Level 2 and 3 certified candidates are also encouraged to apply and may be considered for advanced responsibilities based on experience.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial insulation practices including installation, repair, and maintenance of thermal and acoustic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications, with expectations based on certification and experience level.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with all company, client, and regulatory requirements.
  • Physically capable of performing demanding industrial work in varying site and weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Safety Certifications: CSTS/OSSA or OSSA BSO or OSSA CSO

Responsibilities

  • Install and/or assist with installation of insulation materials such as foam, fiberglass, and mineral wool to control heat transfer, energy loss, and sound attenuation.
  • Measure, cut, and fit insulation materials to required specifications, ensuring proper coverage and fit for various applications.
  • Secure insulation using appropriate fasteners, adhesives, bands, and finishing materials in accordance with project requirements.
  • Inspect insulation systems for wear, damage, or degradation and identify areas requiring repair or replacement.
  • Perform and/or assist with removal, repair, or replacement of compromised insulation to maintain system integrity and performance.
  • Support identification and implementation of improvements or upgrades to enhance insulation effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Interpret and follow project specifications, drawings, and direction from supervisors or project leads to determine insulation requirements.
  • Provide input and recommendations (as appropriate to experience level) on insulation materials and application methods suited to environmental and operational conditions.
  • Collaborate with other trades, supervisors, and project teams to ensure proper installation in accordance with specifications and timelines.
