About The Position

Tacten is seeking professional, energetic, and forward-thinking Journeyperson Pipefitters and Registered Pipefitter Apprentices with IRATA Rope Access certification to support our client site at Syncrude in Fort McMurray, AB. Successful candidates will be safety-focused team players with a strong work ethic and a commitment to delivering high-quality work in an industrial environment. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a growing division within Tacten. Employment Type: Long-term maintenance work and temporary full-time project/shutdown work, with additional opportunities for ongoing and repeat mobilizations based on operational and client requirements. Site: Syncrude. IRATA Level 1 ticket required, or willingness to obtain. Candidate must be local to Fort McMurray, AB or willing to relocate. Requirements

  • Journeyperson Pipefitter Certification required, or registered Pipefitter Apprentice in good standing, depending on experience, qualifications, and project requirements.
  • IRATA Level 1 Rope Access Certification required, or willingness and ability to obtain certification.
  • Candidates must be comfortable working at heights and in rope access environments.
  • Strong understanding of pipefitting principles, including installation, assembly, maintenance, and repair of piping systems in industrial settings.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, schematics, and piping documentation (with expectations aligned to level of experience).
  • Commitment to workplace safety, including adherence to all company, client, and regulatory safety standards and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • CSTS/OSSA or OSSA BSO or OSSA CSO

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, isometric drawings, and specifications to determine piping layouts and installation requirements.
  • Assemble, install, and modify piping systems, supports, valves, and related equipment in accordance with project specifications and applicable codes.
  • Measure, cut, thread, groove, and bend pipe using appropriate tools and equipment to achieve required fit and alignment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair piping systems, identifying issues and determining appropriate corrective actions.
  • Perform routine maintenance and system checks to ensure piping integrity, performance, and operational reliability.
  • Replace, repair, or adjust defective or worn components as required to maintain system standards.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with applicable safety protocols, building codes, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with other trades, contractors, and team members to complete project objectives safely and efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and project management regarding job progress, constraints, and technical issues.
  • Provide guidance and support to apprentices and less experienced pipefitters, promoting skill development and safe work practices.
