About The Position

This role involves a comprehensive orientation to the company and local community, covering aspects like company customers, culture, business strategies, payroll, local training areas, housing, transportation, key contacts, and computer systems. It also includes an introduction to the local community's cultural centers, volunteer opportunities, sporting events, and entertainment venues. The position also includes training and supervisory responsibilities within the Rooms Division, specifically in Housekeeping and Front Office operations. Key duties include inspecting guest rooms and public spaces, assisting with scheduling, training, coaching, and counseling team members, supervising performance, producing employee schedules, managing administrative functions, and evaluating staff. In Reservations, responsibilities include learning the reservation computer system and procedures, processing reservations, understanding group bookings, credit policies, room forecasts, sales and upselling techniques, travel agent bookings, revenue reporting, and room allocation strategies. For the Front Office, duties involve overseeing front desk agents, handling walk-over procedures, maintaining house counts, sell-out and room key controls, training staff on upselling, resolving guest concerns, assigning tasks, maintaining equipment and supplies, maximizing occupancy and revenue, reviewing housekeeping reports, and learning front desk manager duties like yield management, forecasts, scheduling, and staffing.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a post-secondary ministerially recognized academic institution in the hospitality industry.
  • Hospitality degree and at least 1 year of recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry (outside of the USA).
  • 5 years recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry (outside the USA).
  • Shown consistent career growth over the last years.
  • Shown serious commitment to your most recent employers.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect guest rooms and public spaces to ensure compliance with all standards.
  • Assist in scheduling room, turndown, mini-bar and linen attendants.
  • Provide training, coaching and counseling for better performance.
  • Supervise performance of all team members.
  • Produce schedules for employees in accordance with staffing guides/ productivity requirements.
  • Review and adjust staffing daily to ensure optimum staffing levels.
  • Review assignments of employees and make adjustments.
  • Manage administrative functions in accordance with established standards.
  • Evaluate, coach, counsel and provide leadership support.
  • Learn reservation computer system and reservation procedures.
  • Process all incoming reservations via rooming lists, mailed or in-house correspondence.
  • Learn group booking process, credit policies, room forecasts.
  • Obtain necessary information from guest and enter into computer system.
  • Learn techniques for sales and upselling.
  • Learn process for travel agent bookings, revenue reporting systems, transient sales procedures, room allocation strategies.
  • Learn room rates, room inventory and occupancy terms, sold-out strategies, internal communication process with the sales department, and reservations reporting methods.
  • Oversee the front desk agents.
  • Handle walk over procedures.
  • Maintain hourly house counts.
  • Manage sell-out controls and room key controls.
  • Train staff on upselling techniques.
  • Resolve guest concerns.
  • Assign tasks to front desk agents.
  • Provide training and support to front desk agents.
  • Maintain all front desk related equipment and a par stock of supplies.
  • Implement strategies to maximize occupancy and revenue.
  • Review Housekeeping reports and follow-up.
  • Learn front desk manager duties and responsibilities such as yield management, forecasts, scheduling and staffing processes and daily management meetings.
