The Room Service Operator is responsible for answering room service phone calls to obtain menu selections from patients and/or their families. This role involves communicating special patient needs to dietitians, processing physician's diet orders, and updating patient card files in the computer. The operator must adhere to specific diet standards, ensure meal tickets comply with diet orders and allergies, and update nourishment orders. Additionally, the operator facilitates communication between nursing, host/hostess, and kitchen staff to clarify orders and ensure prompt service. Upholding the hospital's Service Commitment through equality, compassion, excellence, partnership, and stewardship is essential, as is using courtesy and respect in all interactions. The role also involves maintaining a professional image, performing miscellaneous duties, and assisting with training other employees. Attending scheduled inservices and meetings is also required.
