About The Position

This position is responsible for taking guest orders via the telephone, preparing orders, setting up trays and delivering items to guest rooms in an attentive, friendly and efficient manner and picking up dirty plateware from outside of the guest rooms. This role ensures professional and excellent quality service as per the Hotel Room Service Standard operating procedure. Additionally, the attendant is responsible for maintaining cleanliness at work and guest areas by clearing, collecting, and returning food and beverage items to the proper area, and serving food courses and beverages to guests within their rooms.

Requirements

  • 2 years' service experience in a Premium Casual / Fine dining Restaurant or 3-4 Star Hotel Restaurant.
  • Familiar with a full-service Bar, previous experience selling wine is an asset.
  • Previous wine knowledge and a full understanding of pairing wine is an asset.
  • Good understanding of beverage cocktails.
  • Previous food preparation / table side service and asset.
  • Smart Serve & AGCO Certificate / License.
  • Basic arithmetic skills & ability to read and understand English.
  • Working knowledge of electronic POS system.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods, pushing room service carts & walk long distances with the use of elevators.
  • Available to work all shifts and locations (Days, Nights, overnights, weekends, and public holidays).
  • Have references for restaurant & Hotel related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently deliver excellence in service, product presentation and venue image.
  • Attend and partake in the full Dining restaurant training program and pass at a score not lower than 85%.
  • Demonstrate the ability to romance all food and beverage offerings from the menu to a guest or the F&B leadership team during pre-shift meetings or one-on-one team member meetings.
  • Always follow and adhere to all server “Room Service sequence of service standards”.
  • Adhere and follow GCT uniform, grooming & personal hygiene standards 100%.
  • Deliver, maintain and exceed an elevated level of guest service quality standards as established by the Food & Beverage Department.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, commitment, and professionalism always in a friendly manner.
  • Take guest orders over the phone, Set trays and room service carts according to hotels Room Service standards.
  • Performs opening and closing procedures established for the department.
  • Accurately records, pre-checks and picks-up all food and beverage orders.
  • Check in with guests via the telephone within 15 mins to ensure satisfaction with all food course and/or beverages and notify a manager or supervisor right away of any guest dissatisfaction.
  • Responsible for cleaning and removing the trolleys/trays from guest rooms and corridor in a quick and professional manner.
  • Serves guests their food and beverage in prompt, courteous manner as per the standard sequence of service.
  • Present physical and accurate check to guest and complete the payment process.
  • To be able to immediately monitor guest comments and pass on to your supervisor. Be pro- active in solving problems whenever possible.
  • Have full knowledge of the food & beverage items & specifications, menu prices, recipes and style of service etc.
  • To have a thorough understanding and knowledge of all food and beverage items in the menu and the ability to recommend Food & Beverage combinations and the ability to up sell alternatives.
  • Complete closing duties, including restocking items, turning off lights, etc.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, chinaware, glassware, etc., throughout the day.
  • Report cleanliness and maintenance issues to the immediate supervisor.
  • Assist in carrying out scheduled inventories of products and operating equipment.
  • Ensure that the place of work and surrounding area is kept clean and always organized.
  • Ensure proper appearance and grooming while on duty.
  • Ensure to have minimum wastage and breakage.
  • Ensure communication between Kitchen, Order taker and service team members.
  • Monitor operating supplies, equipment and reduce spoilage and wastage successfully.
  • Being knowledgeable to operate the point of sales (POS) System, other order taking systems or handheld devices, inventory software etc.
  • To ensure a friendly and positive relationship between all team members.
  • Perform any other assigned reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned or as requested by Supervisors.
  • Advise the Manager / Supervisor of any occurrences which may compromise or be damaging to positive customer relations.
  • Advise the Manager / Supervisor of any occurrences which may impede operational efficiency.
  • Advise the Manager / Supervisor of any concerns shared by the Casino leadership (One Toronto).
  • Report any special occurrences or discrepancies to Chef / Floor Manager / Supervisor.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for improving service or operational performance.
