About The Position

NSBHM Rolling Mill Automation & Electrical Technician at Nucor Steel Birmingham, Inc. in Birmingham, AL. This role provides electrical support through automation, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment. The technician will answer calls to ensure continuous operations of production lines, perform preventive maintenance, and handle configuration, programming, monitoring, and troubleshooting for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), network switches, servers, and HMI workstations. The position also involves developing and implementing projects for continuous improvement. Safety is paramount, and candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to upholding safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.

Requirements

• Three years of experience in electrical maintenance.
• Equivalent electrical training or military experience will be considered.
• Extensive knowledge in power distribution, motor control centers, instrumentation, automated systems, PLC and HMI programming, and variable frequency drive troubleshooting in a manufacturing facility.

Nice To Haves

• Two-year degree in electrical maintenance technology and three or more years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance
• Extensive AC & DC motors and drives experience
• Knowledge and experience with Power systems maintenance
• Extensive PLC systems building, programming, and troubleshooting experience
• HMI Wonderware, Factory Talk building, programming, and troubleshooting experience
• Basic pneumatic and hydraulic system knowledge

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical support through automation, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting electrical equipment.
