About The Position

This is a hands-on, physical job where you will work outdoors in all kinds of weather, operate heavy equipment, earn daily overtime, and take pride in a job well done. The role involves working on both residential and private commercial paving projects as part of a small, close-knit crew with a positive culture. The company offers winter training and maintenance opportunities during the seasonal unemployment period to build skills for the next paving season. Nolt Paving is a family-owned, faith-based paving contractor serving clients since 2016, focusing on asphalt and site work with an emphasis on quality results and a supportive work environment.

Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work on your feet in outdoor conditions, including bending, kneeling, and staying active throughout the day.
  • Takes ownership of their work, shows up on time, and does what they say they will do without blaming others.
  • Cares about the final product—focused on clean work, proper compaction, and a smooth finish.
  • Stays focused, works efficiently, and makes the most of the day without getting distracted.
  • Respects coworkers, follows direction, and contributes to a positive crew environment.
  • Jumps in and gets work done without being told.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record for the last 5 years.

Nice To Haves

  • Heavy equipment experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Previous experience in roofing, siding, general construction, landscaping, or hardscaping is preferred and provides a strong foundation for this role.
  • Mechanical aptitude is also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Roll and compact asphalt on paving projects using proper patterns to achieve the right finish.
  • Operate heavy equipment, including asphalt rollers, and assist with other equipment as needed.
  • Remove creases, marks, and imperfections to ensure consistent, high-quality compaction.
  • Tamp edges and tight areas that the roller can't reach.
  • Keep equipment ready by fueling, prepping, and maintaining proper water levels in the rollers.
  • Assist with general job site setup and support the crew as needed.
  • Report equipment issues or site concerns to the Crew Leader.
  • Travel to job sites, typically within an hour of the shop.
