About The Position

The Roll Shop Chock Person must have strong computer and mechanical skills and be able to safely organize, build, inspect, service, troubleshoot, and maintain CCS and related equipment, including: Work roll chocks, roll and bearing assemblies, and chock hardware, guide mechanical components, offline roll changing equipment, and online mill stand equipment, prints, schematics, hand tools, precision measuring tools, welding equipment, fitting tools, and cutting torches, as qualified and required. The Chock Person will inspect chocks, bearings, pins, hardware, rigging, and related equipment for wear, damage, fit, cleanliness, lubrication, and safe operating condition. This role will also measure and record chock bores, pins, bearings, and related components; apply knowledge of cylindrical, ball, thrust, and tapered roller bearings; and troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic systems, including cylinders, pumps, motors, filters, O-rings, and valves. The Chock Person will maintain accurate written and electronic records for chocks, bearings, measurements, inspections, repairs, and shift activity. This role will coordinate with external machine shops, suppliers, and vendors; manage chock, spare-bearing, and spare-parts inventory; and order parts and equipment as needed. The Chock Person will share equipment status, priorities, risks, and follow-up needs with the Roll Shop and Roll Mill through shift reports and direct communication. The Chock Person must plan and prioritize sound maintenance practices while supporting production needs, equipment reliability, product quality, and cost control. The teammate is expected to take initiative, support teammates during critical work, participate in continuous improvement, and take the lead on housekeeping throughout the Roll Shop. This role will also safely operate and inspect overhead cranes and forklifts and will select, inspect, and use rigging in accordance with training and safe work practices. This position requires rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and work in extreme temperatures. The teammate must attain forklift and overhead crane certification within the first 90 days in the position, maintain those certifications, and meet all physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation. Requirements

3 years’ Roll Shop experience with knowledge of chocking rolls, CCS equipment, guides, and roll changing equipment
3 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance, especially hydraulic system inspection and troubleshooting.
3 years’ experience safely operating overhead cranes, forklifts, rigging, inspection, and safe material handling
Strong computer and mechanical skills
Ability to work in extreme temperatures
Ability to attain forklift and overhead crane certification within the first 90 days in the position
Ability to meet all physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation
Ability to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Responsibilities
