About The Position

This role involves operating a roll machine to process materials according to specific settings and drawing requirements. The operator will also use manual welding equipment to secure seams and may operate flame cutting equipment such as torches or plasma cutters. Key responsibilities include monitoring quality and safety, maintaining good working relationships, ensuring proper equipment care, and performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. The position also requires flexibility to work in other departments as needed and adherence to all safety and work regulations, including maintaining departmental housekeeping standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED with one year of trades training and at least one year of related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as bills of material, blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one with other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to read & understand a tape measure.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions.
Must possess good mechanical ability and the ability to perform basic calculations to operate welding and fabricating machines.
Demonstrates ability to operate a welder, grinder, bandsaw, ironworker, overhead crane, torch, measuring devices and a variety of hand and power tools.
Prior work record indicating dependability and conscientiousness.
Must be willing to work in a team-oriented environment.
Must have a basic understanding of computers.
Must have reading, writing and simple math skills.
Must be able to read blue prints.

Responsibilities

Use shop order to clock in and out on each job as it is run.
Operate the roll machine by selecting the required settings depending on type and size of material and drawing requirements.
Operate manual welding equipment to fuse metal together to hold seams in place for long seam welding.
May be required to operate flame cutting equipment torches or plasma cutter.
Notifies supervisor of any quality or safety issues.
Maintains effective interpersonal working relationships and functions as a team member.
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Works in other departments on an as-needed basis.
Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
