About The Position

Seneca Strategic Partners is seeking qualified candidates for part-time and on-call role player positions at the U.S. Secret Service (USSS) James J. Rowley Training Center (JJRTC) in Laurel, Maryland. As a role player, you will enhance training experiences by creating real-world tactical military training scenarios to support professional instructors. This role involves participating in various dynamic training exercises, including canine-related, protective mission, and escalation/de-escalation scenarios, which may require physically demanding activities. Role players will typically support scenarios scheduled Monday through Friday, between 7:30 AM and 10:00 PM, with potential for additional training after 10:00 PM on weeknights and on weekends. Work will not be scheduled during holidays or government-directed facility closings. All scenarios are conducted year-round at the JJRTC during variable weather conditions and are managed by a site supervisor and assistant supervisor. The role-playing position is open to all genders.

Requirements

  • Possess a combination of formal education above the high school level and several years of work experience.
  • Speak English at the eighth-grade level or above.
  • Be capable of meeting the USSS security requirements and passing a background check and drug screening.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be customer service oriented.
  • Foster teamwork and promote safety.
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented.
  • Must have a valid state-issued driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Prior driving experience required.
  • Must pass a driver safety skills test.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policies and procedure manuals.
  • Flexibility and availability to assist in creating a weekly schedule of shifts and scenarios.

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an integral part of basic training for special agent and Uniformed Division officer trainees, as well as advanced training for operational agents and officers.
  • Assist in providing realistic situations for students and other law enforcement entities to practically apply investigative and law enforcement skills.
  • Live a role and freely adapt to it in response to how an individual student handles each situation, ensuring the immediacy and realism of a situation.
  • Thoroughly understand the training objectives of each scenario and the role being played.
  • Adjust to a variety of outcomes and react in a manner most appropriate to the situation.
  • Improvise at times in a manner consistent with the scenario, instructor’s direction, and overall training objectives.
  • Participate in training scenarios including surveillance, arrest situations, witness interviews, subject interrogations, blank-firing weapon exercises, and canine scenarios.
