The ROI Specialist II is responsible for processing requests for the release of health information in accordance with HIPAA and practice regulations. This role involves managing FMLA paperwork, preparing forms, communicating with various parties to verify release needs, monitoring provider approvals, sorting and prioritizing incoming information, and answering calls. The specialist will also provide HIPAA and FMLA/Disability troubleshooting, coordinate record audits, review legal paperwork, and ensure patient records are transmitted and acquired accurately. Documentation within the EHR system and maintaining patient confidentiality are key aspects of this role. Additional on-site office support may include batching, filing, and mail sorting. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, administrative experience, and customer service experience. Previous release of information or medical records experience in a healthcare setting is preferred, as is an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in a health care related discipline. RHIT or RHIA certification is also preferred.
