About The Position

This role is within Amazon's Robotics Delivery & Packaging Innovations (RDPI) Technology Deployment team, focusing on deploying leading-edge industrial robotics and customer fulfillment technologies across North America Stores operations. The team aims to improve the speed, quality, and cost of deploying industrial technologies at scale. As a Systems Engineer, you will oversee large-scale project planning, installation, and launch of industrial automation technologies across Amazon's growing Stores network. This field engineering position requires strong technical skills in deploying robotic equipment, including mechanical and electrical systems, network configurations, and software coordination. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners, including engineering, product strategy, software, supply chain, third-party installers, contracted deployment engineers, construction teams, and internal operations customer teams, acting as the lead on-site project manager. This is an individual contributor role focused on influencing and leading stakeholders from planning through go-live. Relocation to Amazon Corporate offices in Seattle, Boston, Nashville, or Austin will be required.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related STEM field.
Experience working in or around a construction, manufacturing, warehouse, or similar environment.
1+ years' experience with technical drawings and/or reading CAD models (mechanical and electrical).
1+ years' Experience working on mechanical, electrical, IT networked, or software systems.
Understanding of data collection, reporting processes, and ability to make data-driven decisions.
Ability to review data to set troubleshoot priorities on highly complex technical systems.
Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Interest to work primarily in a construction or warehouse environment in a field-based role.
Ability to travel domestically 75% or more of the year.

Nice To Haves

1-3 years of experience working in a field engineering, construction, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
Proven experience working on hardware integration or complex mechanical-electrical or networked industrial equipment.
Knowledge of specific robotic equipment (Fanuc, ABB), and Allen Bradley PLC experience.
Ability to demonstrate past use of data to drive decision making processes.
Practical understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP).
Certified in OSHA, ANSI, or other Automation Safety Certifications.
Familiarity with LEAN or Six Sigma, certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

Support and guide installation of robotics, packaging and sortation technologies at Amazon fulfillment centers.
Develop detailed knowledge of the operation of robotic systems and guide installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of these systems both on site and remotely.
Manage technical ambiguity around integration of work cells in fulfillment centers.
Collaborate with hardware engineering, technical program managers, product managers, and internal customers including site maintenance and operations teams.
Travel to project sites and collaborate both virtually and in person to ensure all business stakeholders are aligned on program status.
Manage day to day project scheduling and budget management.
Work on continuous improvement activities to improve the projects in your space.
Generate and implement continuous improvement ideas around work-scopes.
Lead teams of other engineers on projects.
Travel to both live warehouses and new construction sites, with scopes that may vary significantly in length and include heavy travel.
Travel to project sites across North America, upwards of 75% or more.
