Robotics Software Engineer

Stratom•Broomfield, CO
•$80,000 - $160,000

About The Position

Stratom, Inc. is a mission-driven engineering company building autonomous and unmanned off-highway vehicles and related robotic systems for demanding real-world environments. Its work spans the lifecycle of complex systems, from concept and prototyping through field deployment, with a focus on transitioning existing platforms into production. The Robotics Software Engineer supports the design, development, testing, and integration of advanced autonomous robotic systems. The role involves hands-on work across problem definition, system design, implementation, testing, and deployment, in collaboration with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams. The engineer will develop reliable software and build technical expertise in areas such as perception, navigation, state estimation, and autonomous behaviors. Responsibilities may evolve based on the employee’s skills and initiative. The position involves access to information subject to ITAR and/or EAR. Non-U.S. persons must meet eligibility requirements to access export-restricted information. A DoD security clearance is not required at the start, but employees must maintain eligibility to obtain one.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Robotics, Software, or equivalent engineering field, with 3–5 years of experience; or Master of Science in Robotics, Software, or equivalent engineering field, with 1–3 years of experience.
  • Experience developing software for robotic applications.
  • Proficiency with C++ programming languages.
  • Experience with modern software development practices, including version control, unit testing, and CI/CD.
  • Knowledge of motion planning, navigation, mapping, or control systems.
  • Understanding of kinematics, dynamics, and state estimation, such as Kalman filtering.
  • Experience developing on Linux-based systems.
  • Ability to work with sensors such as LIDAR, cameras, and IMUs, as well as actuators and microcontrollers.
  • Experience debugging hardware/software interfaces.
  • Experience executing functional, integration, regression, and system-level tests in a structured engineering environment.
  • Meet eligibility requirements for access to export-restricted information if a non-U.S. person.
  • Maintain eligibility to obtain a DoD security clearance.
