Robots & Automation Reliability & Strategic Maintenance Leader

GE Vernova•Charleroi, PA
•$104,600 - $174,400•Remote

About The Position

The Robotics Reliability & Maintenance Strategy Lead is a senior individual contributor responsible for defining, deploying, and continuously improving the maintenance strategy for robotic and automated systems across Power Transmission’s global manufacturing network. The role serves as the authoritative reference for maintenance topics across Power Transmission manufacturing sites. The position establishes maintenance standards for robotics and automation technologies, incorporates maintenance requirements into new automation projects, and supports sites as they implement local plans and deploy new systems. It also develops workforce competencies and training pathways, defines performance and benefit-measurement methods, and ensures automation investment business cases account for total ownership costs. The role promotes continuous improvement, including predictive and condition-based maintenance approaches, and supports robotics maintenance training partnerships. The position is remote, with a hybrid work arrangement considered for strong candidates. The role requires one week per month at the local Charleroi, PA, or Clearwater, FL, site; other weeks may combine remote work with travel to Power Transmission manufacturing sites or clients based on business needs. International travel to manufacturing sites is required at 20–30%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
  • 12 to 16 years of experience in industrial maintenance for robotics and automation systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience defining or deploying maintenance strategies for robotic or automated equipment at scale; multi-site or central-function experience is strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of industrial robotics systems, including collaborative robots, industrial arms, AGVs/AMRs, and automated cells, and their specific maintenance requirements.
  • Knowledge of OT/IT integration principles as applied to condition monitoring and asset health management.
  • Ability to translate complex technical requirements into practical standards and training that sites can use.
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to drive standards adoption without formal authority over site teams.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally to Power Transmission manufacturing sites 20–30%.
  • For the hybrid arrangement, work one week monthly at the local Charleroi, PA, or Clearwater, FL, site; other weeks may combine remote work and travel based on business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with structured reliability methodologies.
  • East Coast residence within close proximity to an airport is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain Power Transmission’s standard maintenance strategy for each robotics and automation technology family deployed across the network, including collaborative robots, industrial arms, AMRs/AGVs, automated storage, and automated assembly cells.
  • Embed maintenance requirements into technical specifications for new automation projects from concept approval through FAT/SAT and ramp-up.
  • Coordinate with other GE Vernova businesses to identify and share best practices and align with common standards where relevant.
  • Help manufacturing sites translate the central maintenance strategy into local plans adapted to their automation footprint, team maturity, and operational context.
  • Provide technical escalation support for complex maintenance challenges across sites deploying new automation systems, with particular focus on the automated assembly line ramp-up at the Charleroi site.
  • Conduct site-readiness assessments for maintenance capability before new system deployments and ensure sites are equipped before go-live.
  • Capture and disseminate lessons learned from first-deployer sites across the Power Transmission network.
  • Define competency requirements for site-level robotic and automation maintenance roles and develop standardized job profiles and skills matrices.
  • Design initial qualification and ongoing upskilling pathways for deployed automation technologies in partnership with HR, PT Academy, and external training providers.
  • Define standard methods for measuring automated-system operational performance, including OEE, availability, MTBF, MTTR, and cycle-time adherence.
  • Develop a framework to measure and validate benefits of automated systems compared with replaced manual operations in productivity, quality, safety, and labor efficiency.
  • Establish the Power Transmission-level KPI dashboard for robotics and automation asset performance.
  • Ensure automation investment business cases include realistic Total Cost of Ownership modeling for maintenance costs, spare parts, training, and lifecycle replacement, and track post-deployment actuals against projections.
  • Identify opportunities to advance maintenance strategies toward predictive and condition-based approaches as OT/IT connectivity matures.
  • Contribute to Skills & Ecosystem development, particularly robotics maintenance training partnerships with universities and technical schools.
  • Travel internationally to Power Transmission manufacturing sites as required (20–30%).
