Robotics Programmer - Paint

Oshkosh Corporation•Jefferson City, TN
•$64,500 - $103,500•Onsite

About The Position

The Robotics Programmer is responsible for programming, troubleshooting, and optimizing automated robotic painting systems to support safe and efficient manufacturing operations. The role provides hands-on technical support for six 6-axis FANUC robots and develops and modifies paint programs for new and existing products while ensuring consistent quality and equipment reliability. The position also supports new product introductions, resolves technical issues, and drives continuous improvement to minimize downtime and improve production efficiency. This role is based in a manufacturing or production environment. General conditions may include exposure to loud noise, dust, moving machinery, or temperature fluctuations. The work may require extended standing, repetitive motions, lifting items up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, climbing, or using tools and equipment. Personal protective equipment must be worn when required. Visual and auditory acuity are needed for safe equipment operation and effective communication in a busy workspace. Reasonable accommodations will be considered for qualified individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in industrial robotics programming, robotic painting, or a closely related manufacturing automation field.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience programming, troubleshooting, and optimizing FANUC industrial robots, preferably 6-axis robotic systems.
  • Experience with automated robotic painting systems, including developing paint programs for new parts and modifying existing programs to improve performance.
  • Strong understanding of FANUC robot programming structure, teach pendant operation, and robotic motion programming.
  • Experience troubleshooting robotic equipment, identifying root causes of system failures, and implementing corrective actions to reduce downtime.
  • Knowledge of industrial paint application processes, including spray patterns, paint coverage, application consistency, and cycle time optimization.
  • Experience supporting new product introductions, engineering changes, and automated manufacturing equipment upgrades.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Understanding of industrial robotic safety protocols and safe operating practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional manufacturing teams.
  • Experience identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities within automated manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, program, modify, and optimize robotic painting programs for six 6-axis FANUC robots to support new product introductions, engineering changes, and ongoing production requirements.
