About The Position

Wonder is seeking a Robotics Field Technician to join their Deployment and Applications team. This role involves working on cutting-edge restaurant technology in expanding automated kitchens (IKCs). The position is full-time, hourly, and based in Boston, MA, with travel to various markets for robotic system installations. The role offers a guaranteed 50 hours during travel weeks and up to 42.5 hours when working from the Boston office. Overtime pay is provided for hours exceeding 40 per week. Travel expenses and time are fully compensated. The company emphasizes a strong culture and team support. All applicants must be eligible for and available for travel within the United States.

Requirements

  • 2 or more years of related work experience, such as: Service Technician, Assembly Technician, Robotics Technician, Mechanic, Plumber, HVAC, etc.
  • Flexible to travel
  • Able to perform first-level troubleshooting across mechanical, pneumatic, plumbing, electrical, and controls-related systems, while recognizing when escalation is required.
  • Highly proficient at working with your hands on mechanical assemblies
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical wiring, pneumatic plumbing, mechanical assembly, and the safe use of associated tools.
  • Proficient in digital tools such as Google Docs and Sheets, able to learn new software tools quickly such as Jira for work orders or tasks management
  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally with teammates, engineers, and cross-functional partners, both verbally and in writing.
  • High level of attention to detail. Especially relating to creation and maintenance of documentation.

  • Available to travel up to 75%
  • Have consistent access to a personal vehicle
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, Volt/Ohm Meter etc
  • Capable of climbing, bending, and stooping for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Capable of communicating clearly in English.
  • This role requires 5 days a week in the office when not actively on a deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to deployment locations to install and commission robotic food systems.
  • Execute mechanical installation, electrical wiring, pneumatic plumbing, and hardware installation according to established drawings, checklists, and SOPs.
  • Perform assigned installation work independently and with other technicians, coordinating with the DAE leading the deployment.
  • Support system checkout and commissioning by completing inspections, functional checks, adjustments, and documented punch-list items.
  • Identify unclear instructions, unexpected conditions, and potential quality or safety issues and escalate them before proceeding.
  • Document field observations and recommend improvements to deployment procedures, tooling, and system designs.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional worksite while delivering high-quality work on schedule.
  • Execute applications tests developed by Deployment & Applications Engineers.
  • Prepare equipment, ingredients, test materials, and documentation before testing.
  • Collect complete and accurate test data, document observations, and promptly communicate unexpected results.
  • Assemble, modify, inspect, and validate prototype parts and systems under engineering direction.
  • Receive and inspect prototype components, equipment, pallets, and other large shipments.
  • Maintain organized ingredient and prototype-part storage, including ingredient pickup and appropriate handling.
  • Support lab operations through equipment organization, prototype disassembly, shipping and returns, cleaning, and other team resource requests.
  • Create and update test records, checklists, work instructions, and SOP feedback when the required documentation is clearly defined.
