About the position
The Robotics Engineer: Systems & Applications will be responsible for leading the implementation, deployment, and support activities of smart robotic assistants for surface treatment applications. They will work closely with customers to understand their manufacturing processes, design work cell layouts, and make necessary modifications to robot end-of-arm-tools and fixtures. The engineer will also be involved in the installation, testing, and support of robotic solutions, as well as leading system testing practices and proof of concepts for customers. Additionally, they will collaborate with product and engineering teams to improve the customer experience and develop new applications using GrayMatter technologies and solutions.
Responsibilities
- Work with the customer to learn about the manufacturing process and observe the current process
- Design the work cell layout for a specific task, considering the robot's reachability and cycle time
- Modify the robot end-of-arm-tool and part fixtures in collaboration with mechanical engineers
- Design, implement, and deploy robotic cells, systems, and components
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain control components such as proximity sensors, relays, and vacuum ejectors
- Collaborate with engineering and support firms
- Install and support robotic solutions
- Lead rigorous system testing practices
- Lead proof of concepts for customers
- Create documentation, manuals, and educational contents
- Develop new applications using GrayMatter technologies and solutions
- Design and lead customer success and support programs
- Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to improve the customer experience
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned
Requirements
- 3+ years experience with manufacturing automation
- Effective communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to work with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to solve technical problems effectively, efficiently, and independently
- Demonstrated experience with 3D solid modeling, analysis, and development of 2D manufacturing drawings
- Basic programming knowledge in C++, Python, or other similar languages
- Familiar with industrial facilities and equipment
- Ability to work with customers
- Must secure work authorization in the United States and maintain ongoing work authorization beginning at the time of hire through the entirety of employment
