About the position
As a Remote Field Application Engineer at GrayMatter Robotics, you will be responsible for providing initial setup, training, and ongoing support for customers using our AI robotics products. Your role will involve resolving software and hardware challenges in complex cyber-physical systems, as well as effectively communicating with customers and internal engineering teams. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work with mechanical and robotics engineers to design work cell layouts, troubleshoot technical issues, and collaborate cross-functionally to improve product efficiency. This position requires strong communication skills, technical problem-solving abilities, and the willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Investigate, triage, and troubleshoot complex issues affecting customers
- Collect customer requirements and feedback
- Work with internal engineering teams to improve the product
- Identify new opportunities within customer accounts
- Learn about the manufacturing process and observe the current process
- Design the work cell layout for a specific task
- Modify the robot end-of-arm-tool and part fixtures
- Assist in unboxing, setup, and training on the use of the system
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain control components
- Answer customer emails and phone calls on the use of the system
- Resolve technical issues at customer sites
- Log descriptions of all tickets and document troubleshooting procedures
- Collaborate with other teams on product deployments and technical issues
- Provide superior customer service
- Deliver feedback to the engineering team
- Maintain flexible working hours to match customer production hours
- Demonstrate hands-on hardware/software skills
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively
- Solve technical problems independently
- Travel up to 75% of the time and work with customers at their sites
- Proficiency in working with Linux environments and remote support tools
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline (preferred)
Requirements
- 1-3+ years experience demonstrating hands-on Hardware/Software skills, experience with manufacturing automation or similar field
- Effective communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to work with internal and external stakeholders
- Perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively
- Ability to communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing. Documentation is key.
- Ability to solve technical problems effectively, efficiently, and independently
- Willing to travel up to 75% of the time and work with customers at their sites
- Demonstrated proficiency working with Linux environments and remote support tools
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or a related discipline), or equivalent
