About The Position

Cabrini High School is seeking an enthusiastic Robotics Coach to lead our High School robotics team. The coach will lead students to develop skills and knowledge to design, build, and successfully compete in competition. The coach will help students explore engineering, coding, and problem-solving while fostering a spirit of team teamwork, professionalism, confidence, and good sportsmanship. Help our students build skills, discover new interests, and bring their ideas to life!

Requirements

Experience in robotics, coding, engineering, STEM education, or a related field.
Ability to teach technical concepts in an engaging, age-appropriate way.
Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
Be a positive role model for students and lead by example; display kindness, patience, and professionalism.
Availability for scheduled practices and competitions.
Willingness to complete required background screening and child protection training.

Nice To Haves

Prior teaching, coaching, or robotics competition experience is preferred.
Familiarity with FIRST Robotics program is a plus.

Responsibilities

Serve as the liaison between team members, volunteer mentors, parents and staff; clearly communicate expectations, updates and opportunities to all constituencies.
Schedule and coordinate meets and competitions, including travel arrangements and trip logistics
Supervise and guide students in robot design, building, configuring, programming and testing the robot to ensure successful performance.
Guide students as they develop their own ideas and work through challenges.
Prepare the team for competitions and attend scheduled events.
Create a safe, welcoming environment where every student can participate.
Communicate practice schedules, competition details, and team expectations to families and school staff.
Maintain robotics equipment, supplies, and the team workspace.
Coordinate with school staff and volunteers to support team activities.
Follow school policies for student supervision and safety.
Keep organized track of team income and expenses; efficiently manage team budget.
Send out regularly scheduled clear and concise parent/guardian communications; keep parents/guardians informed and engaged.
Engage and encourage parents/guardians to get involved in a variety of ways: provide food during build season, driving to competitions and events, volunteer, etc.
