About The Position

THOR Solutions is seeking a Robotics Autonomous Systems (RAS) Analyst to support the U.S. Navy Mine Warfare Readiness and Effectiveness Measuring (MIREM) at the Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) in San Diego, California. The role addresses Fleet demand for unmanned systems in the Mine Warfare enterprise by bridging legacy unmanned robotic systems with modern concepts of operations and exploring new systems to address warfighting gaps. The position is onsite at SMWDC. Travel of up to 20% is anticipated, including travel to locations within and outside the continental United States. Work is primarily desk and computer work in an office, with periodic visits to waterfront and shipboard environments. Shipboard work may involve repetitive motion and traversing tight spaces, ladders, and hatches, as well as speaking or vision activities. The position requires an active or interim DoD Secret security clearance. Candidates with particularly strong relevant experience but no active clearance may be considered, but their work start would depend on receiving a new Secret clearance. Compensation is anticipated to be $105,000–$120,000 per year, with actual compensation based on factors such as education, qualifications, and experience.

  • Experience with Navy data collection, mission data extraction, and post-mission analysis.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports and correspondence.
  • Experience using analytical software tools such as MINEnet Tactical, Matlab, Statistical Analysis Software, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency with common productivity software, including the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Fifteen years of active-duty U.S. Navy experience in surface, aviation, and expeditionary MCM operations with remote, robotic, and autonomous systems.
  • Four years in leadership roles at the platoon level or higher for unmanned systems such as MK 18 UUVs, including at least one overseas deployment to 5th or 7th Fleet AORs.
  • Six years of experience employing unmanned underwater systems for mine countermeasure tasks such as IPOE, mine hunting, reacquire and ID, including employment of UUV advanced sensors such as ATLAS and SSAM2.
