About The Position

The Robotic Weld Technician is responsible for the operation, programming, maintaining, and optimizing robotic and welding systems within a union automotive manufacturing environment. This role ensures the production of high-quality welds while maximizing equipment performance, production efficiency, and workplace safety. The technician works closely with engineering, production, quality, maintenance, and union team members to support changing customer demands and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Associate degree, technical certification, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in robotics, Welding Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Operation, program, troubleshoot, and maintain robotic or welding systems and automated welding equipment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, weld specifications, and work instructions.
  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and operational testing of robotic and welding equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and robotic or weld system issues.
  • Fine-tune robotic movements, weld parameters, and cycle times to increase production output and efficiency.
  • Monitor welding operations to ensure precision weld quality and automotive specifications compliance.
  • Support product development, production support, and engineering change implementation.
  • Conduct component repair and replacement on robotic or welding systems and related equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, Maintenance, and union teams.
  • Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, repair documentations, and production reports.
  • Train new team members on safe operation of welding and robotic technologies using industry best practices.
