Xcel Energy is looking for smart, innovative RPA (Robotic Process Automation) intern with analytical, process mapping, and project management skills to join our team. This will be a hybrid position focusing on RPA development, low code automation development and project management. The paid internship provides an opportunity to showcase your abilities in one of our groups that supports various business units throughout the company. The program provides practical work experience to develop your existing skillset, present to senior leadership, and collaborate with key internal stakeholders. Each intern will be relied upon to play a role in achieving department objectives and goals. The program will allow you to apply what you’ve learned in school and further enhance your knowledge through hands on training and provide opportunities to network and learn with other interns across the CFO organization.

Requirements

  • Current student, sophomore status (as of Fall 2026) or higher
  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering and/or similar program
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and build effective relationships
  • Ability to analyze, problem-solve and troubleshoot issues
  • Ability to assess business processes and identify improvements and best path forward
  • Able to work full-time during the summer

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with low code automation tools preferred
  • 3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher

Responsibilities

  • Develops automation sub-processes and simple automations.
  • Collaborates to evaluate and design automation solutions
  • Work with RPA Developers to prepare and produce RPA project management reports, timelines, budgets and documentation as guided by project or program manager
  • Stays current with existing and emerging automation technologies
